Hi Siggy! My little pine loves the southern windows. She has three new branches this year, and is thriving, even though she still wears a bit of glitter that Tom put on her three Christmases ago. She also sports three origami cranes……..life is good!

I don’t claim to always understand my depressions. I do basic stuff like eat right and sleep properly and that helps. I take meds and that also helps. My struggle with my bipolar disorder is detailed in an essay on my web site siggyscafe.com if you are interested. Anyway, we all have something to deal with. Problems is what makes our life interesting.

I think depression is a classic case of the chicken and the egg question. They both need each other to perpetuate the cycle. Depression feeds depressive thoughts which in turn creates more depression. It’s an easy cycle to fall into and a difficult one to break out of.

However, your attitude is exactly right. Even depression comes to an end. Hope things start going better.

Love it! I still wonder why people get hysterical at the thought of a storm. Most of us could stand to go a few days without milk or bread or eggs or chips and dip. During Durham’s big 8-incher a couple of weeks ago, the one thing that I noticed was that the potato chip aisle in the store was nearly empty. There was lots of milk, though.

You’ve got a bunch of nice blurbs here, Siggy. As usual, I’m catching up. I, too, love cardinals, and especially “Dufus”…..named because he had trouble learning from his parents when he was a kidbird. We’d watch him sit on the deck while his dad tried to convince him to come to the feeder. It was really sweet. He looks a bit goofy, and last year, he lost all of his head feathers except for one…..he looked like an Indian brave. He lucked out, though, and partnered, and has brought his own kiddos to the feeder. On to apples: love them, love them, love them. Fuji and gala and a new one…..was it an imperial or princess or what? Crisp meat and sharp, succulent flavor! As to your statement (Mennonites) about changing your habits and going in another direction in order to discover new things….YES!!!!! Ever so true. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, your world, you. We are nowhere near close to spring, but the thought of my flowers is never far from my mind. We have had so much snow which is good because I forgot to place bags of leaves over my hibiscus when the early snow flew.

Also, the rabbits are eating the heck out of my plants because they are readily available with the safety of our back yard fence and all.

Only time will tell…

Hey, Siggy!! I’ve been reading your blogs, catching up. I really agree that relationships take some compromise. I love the sound of birds singing. It’s terrific that you are watching a pine grow! Mist those postal posies!!!! Oh, how true that everyone won’t like you. I always want to be accepted……you don’t have to like me, but it sure is nice if you can just accept me as another human spinning on this planet with you. Siggy (and your better half...), So sorry to hear about Slinky. I know how sad an event like that can be (even though I've only gone through it twice with my own cats). To this very day I still remember my first two "babies" Jed and Miss Kitty. Precious memories are those. Most of my memories of them bring me so much joy, but the memory of being with them and holding them while they passed on to a better place, that remains the most painful of all my memories.
