There is one reason why many want to blame and target the mentally ill for travesties like Sandy Hook Elementary, where over twenty were gunned down mostly children.  It is easier.  The young man who perpetrated those murders must be crazy.  And other mass murderers like the man at Virginia Tech.  People are scared.  They want a scapegoat.  Despite the fact few of these mass murderers are even in the mental health system.  They must be crazy to have done that–gunned down and killed innocent people.  By all means strengthen the background checks to buy guns and ammo.  The fact is there is a Devil in this world and evil exists.  No one wants to face that.  Or even admit that.  It is easier to say these murderers are crazy.

And yesterday another travesty occurred at the Boston marathon.  More evil.  Many people including the FBI are trying to figure out who is responsible for that cowardly act injuring over an hundred people–some people who will never be the same again.  Two bombs were deliberately set off in a crowded area.  This dastardly act was designed to instill fear in others.  And kill innocent people.  It is being called a terrorist act.  More evil.  I don’t care who the perpetrators are and how they justify those acts.  It is evil.  Designed to strike fear into others.  It is a cowardice and pure unadulterated evil.  And you fight evil with truth and courage.  And with Him who will never leaves you.

The dark is your worst haven.  It is the time you magnify your problems.  You are all alone.  You can’t escape yourself.  There is no place to hide.  Somehow you have to break the chains the night puts on you.

And strive for the light, where freedom is.  And when you are surrounded by the night, you have to keep an eye and remain open for the light the dawn will bring.

There is always another way but the devil tries to convince you this is all there is when you are surrounded by the night.

When you are able to open your eyes to the possibilities the new day brings you can break the chains the night brings.

Every person has to face the evil wrought when the night falls.  Nevertheless hold on to your faith when darkness envelopes.

It is never too late to face the light and do not be deceived by the bleakness of the night.  It will end and the light always comes in the dawn we face each day.

The subconscious is 9/10 of your perception.  Another way of saying that is the conscious is only the tip of the iceberg.  Last night I was watching a film by Tom Hanks called “The Green Mile”.  He is a prison guard in charge of the section of prisoners who are on death row.

My wife was on the computer twenty five feet away not paying a whole lot of attention to the movie.  The next morning she told me she had nightmares.

The movie was about the evil in this world.  One of the prison guards and particularly one of the prisoners in that section were depicted as being evil. We absorb around (???) thing around us.

Although my wife was not listening to the dialogue of the movie, she caught its evil tone and it swirled in her subconscious during her sleep.  So be careful of the company you keep or what you do or see.  It matters.

We need heroes in our lives because we need to know the impossible is possible, that good can triumph.

Yes, there is evil in this world but others do overcome it.  People like Mother Teresa inspire us and drive us to greater heights.

Never forget that even in quiet moments and in secret places there are others who aspire for the stars.  Often they are ordinary human beings who do not seek the spotlight.

We need to look at our own lives and seek out the quiet ones who are in the background, who are not swayed by the consistently bad reports the media puts out.

Find your heroes who every day strive for the best in others.  They are the quiet heroes, yet just as notable.

Let them inspire you to greatness.  One person can change the world but what you do you have to do with every ounce of your courage and energy.

There are heroes always among us.  Do not be one of those who bemoan the fate of this world.  You, too, can be a hero.  You never know how your actions can inspire the next generation of heroes so go out there and be a hero.
