A Harbinger Of Spring

Some daffodils were poking their heads under the tree. This was a harbinger of spring. I checked the bed of primrose–no flowers yet.

We actually had a Gerbera daisy bloom in our house today–an orange one. It was winter time. We had brought in two plants before it became cold. And one decided to bloom. One had never done that before. The orange flower is a harbinger of spring. We are in the middle of a “heatwave”: it will hit forty for at least five days. I am praying all our snow and ice melts so we don’t pray for our life every time we walk the forty feet to our cars.

The Canada geese are coming back.  I heard honking and looked up at the sky.  The geese were flying in a V shaped pattern with the left side considerably shorter.  There must have been at least seventy geese in the flock.  They were heading for Lake Huron–a small acre sized body of water.  They are an harbinger of spring.  Earlier we noted the row of tulips were coming up.  It will be a surprise what colors they are.  No one seems to remember what the package indicated.  More and more greenery is coming up.  There are surprises every day.

It is absolutely balmy today.  Forty-forty degrees.  No breeze.  Spring is around the corner.  My four dogs were all outside in the yard soaking in the sun.  They all know a good thing.  They simply did not want to come in.  Officially spring is still more than three weeks away.  Today is an harbinger of spring.  I have to go out, again.

Spring has finally arrived although it does not seem that way:  it is thirty-eight degrees presently.  A few days ago it hit seventy-eight.  The day was a harbinger of spring.  Today it is here only in name.

I know it is getting warmer.  I really want the cold weather banished and that is not going to happen.  A few days this week it is not going to hit forty.  I know the warmer temperatures are coming.  I am impatient.

This winter was just too cold.  I know the consistent warmer temperatures will come and before I know it it will be summer and I will again wonder where spring went.

It is absolutely gorgeous today.  The sun is shining.  There is not a cloud in the sky and it is warm.  Today is a harbinger of spring.  It is officially less than two weeks away.  One of my dogs was still in the our (???) yard in the right corner.  I called him but he did not want to budge.  He was enjoying himself basking in the sunlight.  It feels great to be alive.
