Siggy's Blurbs: Siggy's Edge of Country …

Every time I pass a stream or a river I gaze downstream (or upstream).  To me the body of water represents mystery.  If I am on foot I want to see if I spot any fish or other creature in the water.  By car, I am on the outlook for any kind of duck or egret or other bird.  I am always curious what I will see.  There is a marsh nearby and I am always looking for a snowy egret or the much larger great egret there.  I could not believe it when I flushed a blue heron who was drinking the water of the small creek less than an hundred yards from my house.  I face nature with a sense of wonder.  There is always the sense of mystery.  I know the Almighty has instilled that in me and every child has it and far too many lose it.  To view this universe without a sense of awe is a great loss.  With it, you will discover wonders and beauty all around you.  All you have to do is open your eyes with a sense of expectation.

The dark is your worst haven.  It is the time you magnify your problems.  You are all alone.  You can’t escape yourself.  There is no place to hide.  Somehow you have to break the chains the night puts on you.

And strive for the light, where freedom is.  And when you are surrounded by the night, you have to keep an eye and remain open for the light the dawn will bring.

There is always another way but the devil tries to convince you this is all there is when you are surrounded by the night.

When you are able to open your eyes to the possibilities the new day brings you can break the chains the night brings.

Every person has to face the evil wrought when the night falls.  Nevertheless hold on to your faith when darkness envelopes.

It is never too late to face the light and do not be deceived by the bleakness of the night.  It will end and the light always comes in the dawn we face each day.

Don’t linger too long in your tomorrows.  If you fixate on your future, your present will escape you.  You will miss everything for your head will be in the future.

The beauty and wonder around you will pass you by.  It is there every day.  You can not see it if your head either lingers too long in the past or all you can do is imagine your future.  Life will pass you by.  The present will become your past too quickly.

Somehow there needs to be a balance:  you have to have some idea how your past impacts you (so you don’t continually repeat it) and have some expectation where you might be heading and at the same time enjoy what is happening around you.

It is always a balancing act.  Don’t be like the ostrich with its head in the sand always–either stuck in the past or in your future.

Learn to be aware of your life unfolding with (???) and without you.  It is there.  You just have to open your eyes and see what is unraveling right in front of you–your life today.  So don’t get stuck.

It is so easy to take the weather for granted.  Spring is now four weeks in.  I no longer notice it is forty, fifty degrees every day sometimes higher.  Somehow I have to stop anticipating the future weather and enjoy each stage of the spring.

The daffodils have bloomed already along with the primrose.  The day lilies are popping out of the ground rapidly.  The blackberry plants have sprouted.  Now the leaves on the trees are budding and rapidly unfolding.

I need to slow down and observe each step of the spring, do not take any of it for granted.  I still remember the winter day it hit ten below.  Yes, the cold weather is not around as long as it used to be but nature has its cycles and I simply have to observe their daily changes.

The growths are really miracles and I should not let the spring slide into summer and not notice the daily changes.  They are all miracles so do not say they do not occur.  You just have to open your eyes and see the spring unfolding.  So slow down.  They are all miracles.  Just because they happen every year does not diminish the true miracles unfolding every spring.  Do not let them pass you by.
