Every day I look carefully at my plants.  I mourn when one dies or withers and rejoice when another one flourishes.  I water them carefully.  Sometimes I am not sure how to take care of one properly.  The plants in my house I love.  Sometimes there is nothing I can do about the demise of one even if I move it or give it less water or more.  I have a garden in my house and so do many other people.  Plants are one more example of the wonders in this vast intricate world we live in.  I love watching my plants grow.

One Response to “Why I Love Watching Plants”

  1. Brother John Says:

I am also a lover of plants! One day when I had some business at my local Dry Cleaner, I noticed the proprietor had a large Ivy plant. It was in serious need of… well probably everything. It was root bound, hadn’t been properly watered, the leaves were withered and pock marked, and it probably had never tasted a drop of plant food. I knew it was not long for this world. I asked the proprietor, Emily, if I could take a small cutting from it. She was glad to let me do this, and as I selected a cutting that wasn’t in too bad of shape, she admitted she hadn’t given the plant the attention it obviously needed. She even doubted my cutting could survive. I brought the cutting home, put it in water, and in a few days I noted that it had put out roots! I potted the plant and placed it on my fireplace mantle. (No worries, I don’t really build fires these days and I knew the kitties couldn’t get up there to bother the plant). Once done, I looked at the plant and decided to name her Emily. Today, Emily grows up and over her pot, and drapes beautifully down toward the hearth below. Her leaves are vibrant green, she’s a strong healthy plant, and she’s beautiful. Every time I look at her, I smile. From death and decay, came forth resurrection and new life!
