Every day I peer at my hummingbird feeder, which is only three feet from my front window and sways slightly in the breeze.  It was just last week I put out fresh nectar.  In the past, the first hummingbirds did not appear until the end of the month.  Nevertheless, I keep thinking I will see one any minute and periodically stare at it for a number of seconds each day.  Maybe, this will be the year they appear earlier.  They had a long flight to get here.  I am hopeful any way.

The hummingbird hovered over its feeder but did not feed.  I thought, maybe, it was time to put out fresh nectar and clean the feeder.  I did that and minutes after I put back the feeder the hummingbird was feeding on the nectar I had just prepared.  I was really glad to see the bird come back.

It was April 27 and I still have not seen the first hummingbird of the season.  I had my feeder out for at least a week and I was running out of time.  In less than three days I would be going on a trip.  In the past the first hummingbird was always seen by the end of April.  I only had two and an half days to make my first sighting.  I love watching hummingbirds and wonder whether I will see one before I leave on my trip.  Maybe, my wife will have to report back to me when she sees the first one.

I keep looking at the hummingbird feeder viewed from my living room window.  I never know when one is going to come.  Last week I saw three at one time jostling for position to sip the nectar.  The same weekend my wife saw five at one time.  That means at least five hummingbirds know where the feeder is.  I love watching them hover over the feeder.  They are amazing.  Sometimes you might see two feeding at one time.  They are very protective of their space.  All I do is make sure they have nectar and they keep coming.  I am really privileged I can watch them from my living room window.  All you have to do is recognize the diverse variety of birds and thank the Maker for the display.  And that is just birds.  A very small part of His kingdom.  It is as if He had nothing better to do but create birds.  For His enjoyment and ours.
