It was almost November and one pink rose was still blooming. The weather, on the whole, was still mild although the temperatures were still gradually dropping. It is hard to believe that in less than four weeks Thanksgiving will arrive. The clock gets changed this coming Sunday. The colder weather is coming but all I can think of is the weather of next spring. I wish I could hibernate. But I can’t. I will just endure the coming colder weather (and dress warmer).

November first started auspiciously: the forecast was seventy degrees. I checked the ten day forecast and the temperature was all over the place–the highs were forties, fifties and even sixties. So far it has been a warm fall. I really do not care as long as I have the appropriate clothing on. I do not like being cold.

That petunia plant kept blooming–all summer. It must have liked the spot it was in. Usually when I buy one it blooms for awhile and then stops but this year it kept shooting out more flowers all summer. The rack it was on was accidentally knocked over. I righted it a few days later: half the plant dried up but even now it still had one flower on it. Finally it wilted. It was the middle of November and we did not many nights of frost so far this fall. That was one hardy plant!

I don’t want to squander the seventy degree day in the middle of November. I checked the ten day forecast–still warm for this time of year. Today it is going to hit seventy. It is very unusual to have a day this warm this late in Autumn.
I want to do something unusual this day before the daylight runs out. I have about five hours left before it gets dark. Perhaps I will go fishing somewhere I have never been. It can’t be too far away but I don’t want to waste this unexpected mild weather.
Weather is all by grace. People complain about the weather all the time. I just want to accept whatever comes my way. The weather is always by grace. I know cold weather will come. This day is by serendipity. I will just take advantage of it.
