It was just a hot shower and soap. No small thing. Although maybe not. In many parts of the world–the poorer countries like Haiti plumbing and hot water is a big thing. Many people there don’t have that luxury. In fact, even a bar of soap, something we take for granted is, also, a luxury. Disease is running rampart there because many can’t wash after themselves properly. It is just basic hygiene and many are dying because they can’t afford one bar of soap. It is so easy to take your life for granted and you do not realize how rich you are in the United States. And how much you really have.

You gotta keep promises (to your wife). It matters. She has to know she can rely on you. The only way she can do that is by you fulfilling your promises to her. If you keep breaking your promises to her, she will not be able to trust you. And it matters so make sure you do not break any promises to her unless it is out of your control. It all matters.

I quickly packed a lunch to be eaten on the run and felt like a king. I had a sandwich (rye bread) smeared with strawberry rhubarb jam. Included also was a ripe Anjoi pear, a banana and I filled a liter bottle with apple cider. I felt very grateful I had all that to bring with me. Life is full of many small pleasures.
