I really do not feel sorry for my financial state.  One of my friends made some reference to that.  I never made as much money as him or leave (???) in such a beautiful house.  I am content with what I have.  There is less and more in this world.  That is the way it is.  God has blessed me abundantly.  I know that and I am content.

There is always injustice in this world for we live in an imperfect world.  The face of it changes and evolves.  We live in a sinful world.  Each person has to decide what battles to fight.  We can’t just spin our wheel.  Each person’s time here is finite.  Injustice won’t go away.  But we can in our own way make the world a little better.  We should not (???) do the little that is in our power to do.  The seed of a mustard seed in the beginning is very tiny.  Every movement started with one person.  The power of one.  Never forget that.  The power of one.

There is one reason why many want to blame and target the mentally ill for travesties like Sandy Hook Elementary, where over twenty were gunned down mostly children.  It is easier.  The young man who perpetrated those murders must be crazy.  And other mass murderers like the man at Virginia Tech.  People are scared.  They want a scapegoat.  Despite the fact few of these mass murderers are even in the mental health system.  They must be crazy to have done that–gunned down and killed innocent people.  By all means strengthen the background checks to buy guns and ammo.  The fact is there is a Devil in this world and evil exists.  No one wants to face that.  Or even admit that.  It is easier to say these murderers are crazy.

And yesterday another travesty occurred at the Boston marathon.  More evil.  Many people including the FBI are trying to figure out who is responsible for that cowardly act injuring over an hundred people–some people who will never be the same again.  Two bombs were deliberately set off in a crowded area.  This dastardly act was designed to instill fear in others.  And kill innocent people.  It is being called a terrorist act.  More evil.  I don’t care who the perpetrators are and how they justify those acts.  It is evil.  Designed to strike fear into others.  It is a cowardice and pure unadulterated evil.  And you fight evil with truth and courage.  And with Him who will never leaves you.

There are so many varieties of daffodils.  I was looking a little harder just at the ones we had and was amazed at the variations.  First of all they come in all different sizes–some miniature and others large and even in between those two sizes.  Some are completely white and others just yellow.  Others are both colors.  Some yellows are not as bright as others.  And some flowers the center part is ruffled.  I never paid my attention to all the varieties until this year and had fun walking around my yard and noting the variations the daffodils had.  God must have had a lot of fun when he came up with the flower.

Gratitude is the only way.  It is so easy not to thank God for His abundance.  But you must.  Life is not always fair but he says, ‘Give us our daily bread.’  And pray to Him with a spirit of thankfulness.  He does take care of us.  And we have to thank Him every day for His blessings.  That is why we have to approach Him every day with a spirit of thankfulness.  We owe everything to Him.  Everything.  Every gift, every provision.  Our health.  Everything.

His Gift Is Free

Author: siggy

His gift is free as it states in the first two lines of Isaiah 55 in the Old Testament:  ‘Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy wine and milk without money and with out price.  Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy?…’

I know all too well what those lines mean.  So many times I become consumed with the wrong things, that really don’t matter in the long run.  And I have to come back to Him.  He is the only gift that truly matters.  And He is free.  You just have to accept Him.  He loves you and will not force you to come to him.  He is a free gift.

People who think they are perfectly normal create havoc around them.  Never get mad at them.  They think how could you possibly get angry at me.  Little old me.  ‘I did nothing wrong.’  Such people are narcissistic to the nth degree.  They can’t accept being flawed.  And each person is flawed.  So they have no idea of the damage they do around them–the mistakes they make.  I know perfectly well I am a little crazy and make mistakes.  So is every person.  It is those people who can’t accept they are flawed and make mistakes who create havoc around them for they can’t judge they had a hand in the impact of those around them.  Every person is flawed, sins and makes mistakes.  And when you do, all you can do is ask for forgiveness from the ones you hurt with your actions.

Every person has a different cross to bear.  In Paul’s case (from the New Testament) it was his ‘thorn in the flesh’ God would not remove despite his fervent prayers.  Sometimes prayers will resolve a situation or physical infirmity but sometimes not.  His answer is, “No.”  Every person has something different to deal with.  Sometimes, also, we create our own hell.  And sometimes it is not our fault.  It is our unique situation.  It could be fractured relationships.  Maybe, a mom or dad or sibling or friend or mate.  We can not even compare ourselves to someone else.  That really does not help.  Everyone has problems.  That is the way it is.  Every person has a different cross to bear.  It is really out of our hands.  All you can do is pray.  And change what is in your power to change.  And leave the rest up to Him.  Everything is by grace.

It has been a lazy Sunday morning.  I missed church and still have my sweats and moccasins on.  I am finished with my morning coffee.  We made plans to go to a church evening service so I have to make myself more presentable:  shave, shower, etc.  My day is just starting although it is past twelve PM.  It is never too late to take your day more seriously.  It matters.

If each day is a miracle and I can’t feel that lost in depression, is it really?  I do believe in miracles but I know my moods are deceivers.  Let me consider if each day is not a miracle and isn’t this a slide into oblivion.  Maybe, I can’t trust my feelings (my depression in this case) and choose to believe each day you have on earth is really a miracle and wait until I feel that.  The converse of that belief is futility.  Depressions do come and go.  I just have to ride it out and believe the time I spend here is worthwhile.  That is what I choose to believe.

My brother-in-law says face the ‘light’ not the darkness.  It is too easy to get lost in the darkness.  It envelopes us, discourages us.  The devil does exist.  And he likes keeping us in the darkness.  We lose our way, our focus so face the light.  Focus on the truth, which is always found in the light.  We know what side is going to win in the end.  The devil uses his darkness to deceive us.  The bible says and this is a paraphrase, center on the good that is out there.  And focus on that.  Don’t get lost in the darkness.  Focus on the light.  He will show you the way.  And direct your path.

Thanksgiving is not about turkey dinners and all the trimmings.  It is about families getting together and displaying gratitude for all your blessings.  I know it is a hard time for those especially in NY and NJ who got hit hard by the storm “Sandy”.  It created havoc in those states particularly.  The original Thanksgiving celebration was about the pilgrims praising the Lord for food and shelter.  Not everyone made it through the winter.  Thanksgiving is just that, thanking God for all your blessings and everyone has some reason to be thankful.
